How to use my translation service

I pride myself in providing a personalised service for both business and private clients, where all work is undertaken in the strictest confidence in close and direct cooperation with my clients. The more I know about your requirements the better my completed English to German / German to English translation will match your needs.

What I need from you

Please don’t worry – there’s really not a lot to do! I have divided the procedure into three easy steps. Please click on the individual steps and you’ll get the information.

The client sends the source document to be translated for quotation, usually by email nowadays, so that I can have a look at it.

This enables me to establish the nature of the source text (terminology and jargon) and reference material needed which includes my own massive German “personal translator dictionary” and other accurate translation reference sources in order to guarantee an excellent English to German translation.

For each client I keep a translator record of the preferred terminology (there are usually a lot of options in German!) so that there is consistency across all the translation and/or proofreading projects from that client even over several years.

I prepare a quotation. In order to do so I will need the following information from you:

  • Word count of text to be translated
  • Deadline for translation
  • Target readership / use of the document to be translated
  • If applicable: Client’s specifications regarding the translation (e.g. text format, style of existing marketing materials I should adhere to, delivery of completed translation, e.g. as an email attachment etc.)
  • Your contact details

The quotation is free of charge and usually provided the same day I receive the source text for translation.

My translation fee is usually based on the document’s total word count (more on pricing / rates). I treat every enquiry with strictest confidentiality. If you should decide not to use my English to German translation service the document you provided for the quotation will be deleted.

Eloquently phrased English texts

The other side: Proofreading by a native English speaker. To ensure an eloquently phrased English text with a consistent style tailored to your target audience every German to English translation I undertake will undergo a final proofreading by my qualified English partner to ensure that the finished English translation is as good as my translation into German would be.

Here are some of the areas in which companies, organisations or private individuals have asked me to apply my translation and translation proofreading skills:

Over the years it has been this aspect of personal recommendation that has provided me with lots of translation and proofreading work and an enviable reputation for quality and service. I hope you find the site informative and by all means send me an email or give me a ring if you have any questions.
