This project is a very good example of why proofreading is necessary. The client had their food supplement website content translated into English by a German translation agency and wanted it proofread by me. When reading through the English translation it became obvious that the translation was not finalised by a native speaker and not up to standard. It contained a lot of spelling errors, wrongly translated content and the style was not suited to the target audience. After the initial shock the client decided to have their whole website re-translated by me. After I completed the translation the new English text underwent a final proofreading and optimisation. This was done by my English partner who is a qualified native speaker so as to arrive at an English version that really flows and has a consistent style tailored to the target audience. Working together we can often achieve a better result than one translator working alone.
Anyway, our client was very happy with his new English website as you can read below:
Hi Johanne, I just looked through your translation and I didn’t make any amendments. I am really pleased – you did a great job …. I am already eager to see what it will look like in pdf format. I passed the text on straight away to the graphic company and I assume that the user guide can go online at the end of the week. Thank you so much. I will remit the payment for your invoice by midweek.
Have a nice evening and bye for now.
Tobias

Free Radicals: What they do
In principle, free radicals are something very natural, but…
Free radicals are produced naturally during the body’s metabolism. Nowadays, however, thanks to environmental pollution (UV radiation, exhaust gases, chemicals etc) as well as toxins such as nicotine, the human body has to try and neutralise up to 17kg of free radicals every year! The strain on the physiology caused by oxidative stress has increased significantly over the last decades.
Free radicals attack the genes within our cells (the DNA) and can cause severe defects to occur. The cause of many of the most feared disorders is cell damage caused by free radicals that can no longer be neutralised by the body.
Megamin vs. free radicals
Megamin is an extraordinarily strong anti-oxidant and a means to purify the body. Original Megamin is made from the best quality sterilised zeolite crystals of volcanic origin. These volcanic minerals are activated and pulverised using our patented technology, which reduces it to nanoparticle size. Megamin neutralises free radicals through the many negative charged electrons on the surface of the tiny crystal particles. Megamin works physically not chemically. It is therefore completely innocuous, non-toxic, and produces no side effects whatsoever.

Megamin gegen freie Radikale
