Das Übersetzen (einer einzelnen Textseite oder eines mehrseitigen Dokuments, eines Romans, eines Handbuchs, einer Reihe von Handbüchern oder Broschüren, von Marketingtexten, Computerspielen etc.) ist eine Arbeit, die von qualifizierten Linguisten ausgeführt werden muss. Um höchste Normen zu erreichen, übersetzen professionelle Übersetzer in der Regel nur in ihre Muttersprache – und ich denke, mein Nachname verrät, aus welchem Land ich komme! Ich übersetze jedoch auch ins Englische, aber um hundertprozentig sicher zu sein, dass der fertig gestellte englische Text von derselben ausgezeichneten Qualität ist, wie es meine Übersetzung ins Deutsche sein würde, arbeite ich mit einem englischen Partner zusammen, der das fertige Dokument Korrektur liest.
Wissenswertes über das Korrekturlesen
Ausgezeichnete Übersetzer erhalten sehr häufig Korrekturlesungs-Aufträge. Das Korrekturlesen ist erforderlich, um die Arbeit von weniger erprobten Übersetzern durch erfahrenere Kollegen dahingehend zu überprüfen, dass Aussage und Stil von Originaltext und Übersetzung exakt übereinstimmen. Dies kann erforderlich sein, weil der Übersetzer z.B. technisch sehr versiert ist, sein Stil aber zu wünschen lässt oder umgekehrt. Häufig steht eine Palette unterschiedlicher Worte oder Ausdrücke zur Auswahl und seltsamerweise sind einige Übersetzer – obwohl sie ihre Zweitsprache gut beherrschen – nicht sehr kreativ im Gebrauch ihrer Muttersprache! Hinzu kommt, dass einige Kunden, um ganz sicher zu gehen, alle ihre Projekte Korrektur lesen lassen.
Wie Sie meinen Übersetzungsservice nutzen
Der Kunde sendet das zu übersetzende Dokument zum Erhalt eines kostenlosen Kostenvoranschlages – heutzutage in der Regel per Email. Der erste Schritt besteht in der Identifizierung des Fachgebiets des Ausgangstextes (Terminologie und Fachumgangssprache) sowie des erforderlichen Referenzmaterials, zu dem auch mein selbst angelegtes, gewaltiges „Persönliches Wörterbuch“ und akkurate Internet-Referenzquellen gehören, um eine ausgezeichnete Übersetzung zu garantieren. Für jeden Kunden lege ich zur Gewährleistung der Begriffskonsistenz aller Projekte dieses Klienten ein spezifisches „Glossar“ der bevorzugten Terminologie an (es gibt gewöhnlich eine große Anzahl von Optionen im Deutschen!).
Der zweite Schritt ist die Erstellung des Kostenvoranschlages unter Berücksichtigung des Folgenden:
- Anzahl der Worte
- Abgabetermin
- Spezifikationen des Kunden
Der Kostenvoranschlag wird in der Regel am selben Tag geliefert, an dem ich den Ausgangstext erhalten habe.

Beispiel: Korrekturlesen und Lektorat von “Kein Entkommen”
Was tun, wenn man eine deutsche Übersetzung seines Buches braucht, die den neuen Rechtschreibanforderungen des heutigen Deutschlands gerecht wird, und man selbst mit seiner Frau die letzten 53 Jahre in Kanada gelebt hat? Dies war das Problem, das sich Autor W. John Koch beim Schreiben der deutschen Version seines Bestsellers ‚NO ESCAPE’ stellte. Wie alle Dinge unterliegt auch unsere Sprache kontinuierlich Veränderungen, die über einen Zeitraum von fünfzig Jahren recht drastisch sein können (Ungläubige brauchen sich bloß alte Filmdialoge oder Werbespots anhören!). Bei uns in Deutschland kam es 1996 zur Rechtschreibreform und gibt es den zunehmenden Gebrauch von englischen Worten (scherzhaft „Neudeutsch“ genannt) wie auch neue Begriffe und linguistische Möglichkeiten, um Ideen zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Es ist Aufgabe eines Top-Übersetzers, all diesen Entwicklungen Rechnung zu tragen und diese Optionen dann in Beziehung zum Zielmarkt eines Textes zu setzen. Die Fertigstellung dieses Projekts nahm etliche Monate in Anspruch, da es bei einem Buch mit 371 Seiten offensichtlich eine Menge zu tun gibt.

What do you do if you want to get your book to read well in today’s Germany when you and your wife have lived in Canada for the last 53 years? This was the problem facing author John Koch in producing the German version of his incredible best-selling book ‘No Escape’ for German publication. No language is static and over the course of fifty years any language changes radically (just listen to old English radio announcements or adverts if you don’t believe this!). In German there has been a new German grammar and the increasing use of English words instead of German words (playfully labeled as Neudeutsch!) as well as new words and ways of phrasing ideas. It is a top translator’s job to keep abreast of all these developments and to then relate all these options to the target market for the text. This project took several months to complete as there was a lot to do with a book of 371 pages.

Die Angebotspreise haben eine Gültigkeitsdauer von mindestens 20 Tagen ausgehend vom Datum des Kostenvoranschlags.
Übersetzen
Preise basieren auf einem anteilsmäßigen Satz pro 1000 Worten vorbehaltlich einer Mindestgebühr von £30 (für ein Dokument mit einer Wortzahl von weniger als 400 Worten).
Korrekturlesen
Die Preise für das Korrekturlesen basieren auf einer Gebühr pro Stunde (£30/Std. – Preisnachlässe für große Projekte sind erhältlich). Eine Berechnung pro Wort ist nicht möglich, da die hierfür erforderliche Zeitdauer von den Fähigkeiten des Übersetzers abhängt, der die Übersetzung vorgenommen hat. Ein Korrektur-Tool wird verwendet, um die originale und korrigierte Version des übersetzten Textes aufzuzeigen. Grundsätzlich gilt - je besser die übersetzte Fassung ist, desto kürzer wird die Zeit der Korrekturlesung sein. Achten Sie darum schon bei der Auftragsvergabe für Ihre Übersetzung auf die Professionalität des Übersetzers!
Zahlungsbedingungen
Wenn Sie meine Dienstleistungen noch nicht in Anspruch genommen haben, besteht für Sie noch kein Kundenkonto. Für Neukunden ist eine Vorauszahlung von 50-100% der veranschlagten Kosten für die Übersetzungsarbeit erforderlich. Sie können ein Kundenkonto mit einer Zahlungsfrist von 30 Tagen nach Ausführung des ersten Projekts erhalten.
Mehrwertsteuer
Die Preise verstehen sich ohne Mehrwertsteuer, da ich in England nicht der VAT-Registrierung unterliege und somit keine Mehrwertsteuer berechnen darf. Für Sie als Kunde heißt das: Brutto = Netto.
